I Like to Write
I’m an aspiring author.
I really enjoy fiction of any kind but most notably fantasy type fiction. It has always been a passion of mine but I seemed to struggle in forming ideas to write about.
That is until I met Nick. Over the course of the past year we have spent time writing each other short stories about our characters and emailing them back and forth. We also have enjoyed co-authoring projects together, where we each write an installment to the story and the other person has to pick up where the previous piece left off. Not only did we write stories with and for one another, we’ve spent countless hours discussing things we love in this world. Including conversations about writing and different points of views and styles. Better still are the topics we’ve explored where Nick and I have been very candid with one another and admitted to things and really explained (and explored!) the things we experience physically and emotionally throughout life. It’s these impossibly long and luxurious conversations that have given me what I feel to be a really unique perspective. Nick has been very honest with me about what things look, feel, taste and smell like to a human-male and it’s really stuck with me. The things he explains to me have helped open my eyes to different ways to develop my characters or the plot and if not for him being so open with me, I would not make it through some of my tougher plots and climaxes.
Nick has taught me so much about the male mind and the way it functions, as well as their bodies do. It is detailed descriptions like this that have made it possible for me to continue writing more accurate stories, even if they are fiction, I feel like this knowledge he’s given me gives my stories a depth readers can relate to.
Outside of the endless questions he answers for me and the ramblings I encourage him to indulge upon (as this is where my best and most interesting ideas come from, is listening to him when he goes off on a tangent!) he has been an amazing support system for me. He has really encouraged me and given me honest feed back on all of my work. If he doesn’t like something in a story I wrote he will truthfully tell me so. He’s not afraid of constructive criticism. He has always been able to be blunt and straight forward with me when I send him a piece of work to proof read and I always tease him that he should be my editor one day.
Nick is absolutely my inspiration and motivation for writing. He’s what has moved me to continue to produce works of fiction no matter how big or small, and has really fed into my desire to do big things with my imagination. Without him I wouldn’t have had the courage to put my stories out there for the world to see and I know with much more practice I will continue to grow as an author. Without Nick’s support I wouldn’t be where I am today as far as writing goes and for this I am extremely grateful for his love, help and support because this is a very important dream of mine.
